When did Jesus become such a joke?
I’m no Bible thumper but I grew up in church and with a strong Christian background. It seems like in the past few years Jesus has become the butt of some pretty nasty and disrespectful jokes. Not to mention all the animations out there showing him doing ridiculous things (playing drums in a rock band, doing the arm motions to “YMCA” while on the cross, etc.). Is this wave of sacrilege a backlash response to the religious right? If so, the rest of us, who love Jesus but aren’t intolerant wack jobs, don’t deserve it. I’m pretty progressive but this crap goes too far in my opinion.
I guess anything that you don’t take seriously would become a joke. To me, Jesus is king of Kings and Lord of Lords, my friend, my doctor, my teacher, etc. But I can’t make the jokers stop joking.
